Important: The Beginning of Grade Test will be first thing Wednesday morning. Students will take a much shorter practice test on Tuesday.
Math: Students are continuing to practice different strategies to add and subtract up to three digits. They are currently working in groups to record instructional videos on how to use each strategy.
Reading: I am almost finished assessing each student one-on-one. Once I am finished, we will begin working in small, differentiated groups during reading. Our lessons this week focused on using the text for evidence whenever possible. We learned that there are several question types varying in difficulty that can be asked. The four question types we discussed are "Right There, Think and Search, Author & Me, and On Your Own."
Writing: Students have chosen topics for their first personal narrative that they will publish. We discussed the importance of beginning with an interesting and exciting lead.
Science: Students had their joints immobilized and were asked to perform a variety of tasks without the use of these joints. They also examined plastic chicken and rodent bones and compared them to a human skeleton to notice any similarities/differences.
Homework: Many students are responding to the prompt without first writing what they read about. Please encourage them to write a short summary of what they read each night first.
Behavior: Students are mastering their morning routine and are earning many positive dojo points!
Wish List: Treats for our treasure box...students can pay for prizes with their dojo points, playground equipment, a large tub to store playground equipment.
