Important: Open house is Tuesday, September 15th. I will be out Friday, September 18th for an all-day literacy workshop.
Math: We finished our unit on multi-digit addition and subtraction and have started our unit on rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100, and 1000.
Reading: I finished assessing each student in reading. A detailed parent letter with the results will be sent home soon and I will go over each component of the letter at open house on Tuesday. Next week we will begin working in small, differentiated groups during reading. This week we reviewed asking questions before, during, and after reading using informational text. We also used context clues to determine a word's meaning.
Writing: Students are working hard on their rough drafts and have crafted strong conclusions. Our next step will be to revise and edit our work before publishing a final copy.
Science: Students enjoyed making leg, finger, and arm models this week using wooden dowels, rubber tubes, paper clips, and rubber bands. The models simulated how ligaments, tendons, muscles, and bones work as a system to help our body move and bend. We finished the week by doing an activity involving a stimulus and response.
Behavior: Students are continuing to earn positive dojo points. Our class is working on walking through the hallways quietly without disrupting other classes.
Wish List: We will always accept treats for our treasure box...thank you to the family that donated some this past week and to the family that donated a tub for our playground equipment :)
Specials Next Week (Tues-Fri): Art, Music, PE, PE (yes, two days in a row!), none
